This series also marks the firstcollaboration between HarmoNYom, a leading organization that supports and promotes classical Indian music in the metropolitan area, and Robert Browning Associates, the new organization led by Mr. Browning who has been involved in presenting more than 2000 artists in New York since 1976, including over 200 Indian musicians and dancers.

The soulful Roopa Panesar is a rising young sitar star in the UK’s Indian music scene. Noted for her distinctive style, she began her training at the age of seven with sitar maestro Ustad Dharambir Singh. She later learned from such great maestros as Pandit Arvind Parikh, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Ustad Siraj Khan and Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty. She has toured Europe and the US to critical acclaim, recorded music for the soundtrack of the film, West is West, appeared with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and released her acclaimed debut album Khoj. She will be making her New York debut.
One of the finest tabla players of his generation in the UK,
Gurdain Rayatt has studied the tabla from his father Harkirat Singh, his grandfather Bhai Gurmit Singh Virdee and is a prominent disciple of Pandit Shankar Ghosh. Based in North London, he has performed at various prestigious festivals and venues inside and outside India and regularly delivers tabla classes in his area.
