Born in Rajasthan, India, Deepak Kumar is a quintessential romantic singer, songwriter and guitarist. His repertoire covers light classical North Indian vocal music as well as a wide spectrum of devotional music styles. Deepak first studied with his father, Shri P.N. Vyas, and later with Ustad R.F. Dagar, Ustad Moinuddin Khan and Shri Mohinderjit Singh. He is accomplished on several musical instruments including harmonium, tamboura, guitar and keyboard. As a faculty member of the East-West School of Music, Deepak Kumar offers regular performances and monthly vocal music classes.

Sri Ashvin Bhogendra hails from a family of musicians. His maternal grandfather Kalaimamani Late Shri T.K.Rangachary is one of the doyens of Carnatic Music and his paternal great-grandfather Dharmavaram Ramakrishnamacharlu is one of the greatest playwrights of Telugu drama. Ashvin was initiated into carnatic vocal by his mother Smt Mallika Jayanth Kumar at the age of 5. Grand Carnatic Violin Concert by Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath with Arun Ramamurthy – Violin (Disciple).
Dr. Mysore Manjunath, visiting NYC for Mark O’Conner’s Annual International String Conference will perform his only concert in New York July 24th. Dr. Mysore Manjunath was born in Mysore, the culturally rich city and a centre for Music. He had his violin training under his father Prof. Mahadevappa, who is a veteran musician belonging to Bidaram krishnappa school. Manjunath gave his first ever violin concert when he was 8 years. Blessed with unique creativity and technical virtuosity, it did not take long for Manjunath to blossom as one of the brilliant violinists in India. He is an A-Top Violinists in India today. Manjunath's growth from a prodigy to a mature performer was steady one and his musicianship accompanied by wide range of musical expressions made him one of the most sought after classical violinists. He has performed all over the world.

Over a long span of more than 20 years, she received extensive training under the tutelage of some very distinguished and well known performers. She learnt pure Hindustani classical (Kheyal) from Pandit Mohanlal Mishra (famous exponent of the Benaras gharana), Pandit Samarash Choudhury, (disciple of Pandit Ravishankar and a top grade artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan) and Sangit Achariya Pandit A.R. Banerjee (Dean of the Rabindra-Bharati University). Dibyarka Chatterjee is a young and promising Tabla player from the Farrukhabad Gharana. His natural inclination towards music became evident shortly after his birth, and at the age of five, his father Pandit Samir Chatterjee, a world-renowned Tabla maestro, initiated him.

Ananda Ashram presents a CLASSICAL INDIAN VOCAL MUSIC CLASS with Shrimati Kankana Banerjee.
Shrimati Kankana Banerjee is a celebrated classical singer. Born in Kolkata, India, she first studied Hindustani music with her mother. As a child she was introduced to the renowned vocalist Ustad Amir Khan of Indore, from whom she received intensive training during her formative years. She gave her first performance at age 14. Later, Kankana also studied with Pt. Pratap Narain of the Mewati Gharana. She has performed regularly at major Indian venues and internationally and has released a number of independent recordings. This course in classical North Indian Vocal Music is based on the Kirana School of masters of sacred music in the lineage of the legendary Ustad Amir Khan.
