Bari is the only musician in the Indian sub-continent who plays North Indian Classical Music in flute as well as sings Baul Songs. To add to his versatile quality, he composes and directs music, writes lyric and sings as well. Bari started to sing since 2000, with the award winning album of ‘Shrabon Megher Din’. His unique contribution in the music of folk fusion is originated from the sub-continental classical music. With the authentic background in music and originality of his voice quality, Bari created his own genre.

Deepak Kumar Parek is a light classical singer and composer from the state of Rajasthan, India. Deepak first studied with his father, Shri P.N. Vyas, and later with Ustad R.F. Dagar, Ustad Moinuddin Khan and Shri Mohinderjit Singh. As a faculty member of the East-West School of Music, Deepak Kumar offers regular performances and monthly vocal music classes.
This class introduces the fundamentals of the classical Indian music system (raga) as well as devotional songs (bhajans), chanting (kirtan) and the philosophy and awareness of singing in correct tone.

Josh Feinberg was introduced to music through classical piano at age 4 and later, the bass at age 8. He began studying jazz and through that path found North Indian Classical music. The music of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Pandit Nikhil Banerjee made a particularly strong impression on him. While attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Josh studied sitar with Dr. Peter Row. Since 2004 he has had the honor and privilege to study with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan-sahib at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California. On Tuesday, July 20, His Excellency Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon and Pakistani Peace Builders Initiative will host the 1st Annual New York Sufi Music Festival. The Mohatta Palace Museum has played the key curatorial role in gathering this unprecedented selection of Sufi musicians from throughout Pakistan for this historic celebration. The New York Sufi Festival is presented in association with Asia Society and Rubin Museum.

CELEBRATE BROOKLYN presents MI21: "Mother India 21st Century Remix" and a performance of vocalist Falu.
MI21 is a dynamic audio/visual re-scoring and re-visualizing of the profoundly influential Mother India (1957), the first Bollywood film to be nominated for an Academy Award (Best Foreign Language Film) and a talismanic piece of cinema history that came to symbolize the post-colonial Indian psyche. MI21 re-imagines the three-hour epic into an impressionistic 60 minutes of arresting imagery with a live score by DJ Tigerstyle, who is accompanied here by strings, keyboards, and percussion.

Solo Violin performance in the Lalgudi Tradition by Carnatic Violinist Preeti Varathan, a senior student of great violinist Vittal Ramamurthy.
Preeti Varathan has been learning violin from the age of seven. For the last seven years she has been under the tutelage of world renowned musician Sri Vittal Ramamurthy, a disciple of Padma Bhushan Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman. In addition to receiving awards, Preeti has also performed several public concerts in venues such as the Music Academy, TTD temple, and Vani Mahal, in Chennai. Currently, studying at the Singapore American School, Preeti will be graduating as part of the Class of 2011.
