Nitin Mitta is one of the most accomplished and distinctive tabla players of his generation, with a reputation for technical virtuosity, spontaneity, clarity of tone, and sensitivity to melodic nuances. Nitin received his early training in Hyderabad from Pandit G. Satyanarayana. To expand his repertoire of tabla compositions, he sought the guidance of Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar of Mumbai, one of the most highly respected mentors of his generation. Both of Nitin’s gurus are disciples of the late Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Saheb, legendary doyen of the Farukhabad Gharana. Apart from being a dynamic soloist, he is a highly sought after accompanist who has performed with some of India’s most celebrated Hindustani classical musicians, including Pandit Jasraj, Dr. Prabha Atre, Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, and Ustad Shahid Parvez, as well as many Carnatic musicians, such as Lalgudi G.J.R Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. http://nitinmitta.com/
A musician her whole life, Camila Celin began playing guitar at age 9. For the last 5 years she has been intensely studying the Indian Sarod. In Kolkata she learns from sarod player Sougata Roy Choudhury, and in New York she learns from sitar maestro Pandit Krishna Bhatt. In 2009 she was nominated for a Grammy for best world music album in a collaboration with slide guitar maestro Debashish Bhattacharya and has been a very active performer in her native Colombia, the US and in India. She has composed music for several films, theater, as well as commercials and currently lives between New York and Kolkata, India.
Ehren Hanson has been playing tabla for over 17 years. A disciple of the great Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, he is an active performer as both a soloist and an accompanist. His recent review in the "Times of India," Kolkata called his solo performance "enthralling."
Together, the couple has founded the Anindo Chatterjee School of Tabla in New York, where they host some of the greatest maestros of our time, hosting classes, workshops, and concerts. Their performance is celebrated for its intimacy with the deep and fated connection between them felt in every beat.

SATURDAY JULY 27 @ 7:30 PM
Chhandayan Center for Indian Music presents Sitar Concert with
Josh Feinberg and Nitin Mitta on tabla.
Raised in a musical family, Josh was introduced to music through classical piano at four years old and later, the bass at eight. As Josh entered adolescence he became increasingly dedicated to music and improvisation. He began studying jazz and through that path found North Indian classical music. The music of Ust. Ali Akbar Khan, Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and Ust. Amir Khan made a particularly strong impression on him. From the moment he started studying Hindustani music, Josh was very dedicated to riyaz or practice; it was not unusual for him to play 10-12 hours in a day. He bought his first instrument at age 15 and began his formal training with Dr. Peter Row while attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 2005, Josh initiated his training with Ust. Ali Akbar Khan. Since then, Josh has also received training and guidance from the maestro’s senior disciples including Sri James Pomerantz, and Dr. George Ruckert. Presently, Josh is continuing his training with Ust. Ali Akbar Khan’s sons Ust. Aashish Khan and Sri Alam Khan, as well as his senior disciple Sri Anindya Banerjee. Josh has received guidance from Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri and Pt. Tejendra Majumdar and has also learned tabla with Pt. Anindo Chatterjee during his Seattle workshops since 2010. Josh recently recorded his debut CD ‘Homage’ featuring Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri playing tabla. Homage, set to be released in April of 2013 on Saath Sangat Records.
