A Professor in the Department of Music, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts, University of Delhi, Dr. Suneera Kasliwal Vyas has combined her performance career with academics and research in music. She had her early training in Music under Dr. Sharda Mishra in Jaipur and later, under Late Pt. Lal Mani Mishra. She then, completed her Doctoral Programme under the guidance of Dr. K C Gangrade and also got the privilege to learn under Dr. R D Chakravorty. She was the recipient ofSur Mani Award as well as the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC. From late eighties, she is learning under a renowned artist of Delhi, Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra.

RagaChitra's talented vocalists team up with carnatic jazz band "Charanams" to present rare carnatic compositions on Vishnu - blending carnatic music with elements of jazz. The concert, a part of the Target First Saturday Concert series, celebrates the ongoing exhibition "Vishnu - the blue-skinned savior" at the Brooklyn Museum.

Little Ustaads... Beat a Tabla! Strum a Sitar! Groove to Teen Taal and Rock to a Raga!
Little Ustaads, an Indian Classical Music class for children between the ages of 0-5. Already a success in Mumbai, the program introduces your little ones to the fundamentals of Indian Classical Music - sargams, alankars, ragas and taal. The curriculum, music and presentation is uniquely created for this program and taught by trained Classical teachers. Through playful puppets, vibrant visuals and rhythmic sounds, children will be exposed to sounds/music/language and visuals that they never would otherwise experience. Little Ustaads is a packed 45 min session of Indian culture, values, Hindi language, arts and FUN!

Krishna Bhatt comes from a prominent family of musicians in Jaipur and was trained by his father, the late Pandit Shashi Mohan Bhatt, a sitarist of great acclaim and a professor at the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur who also trained many renowned musicians in the family including Krishna Bhatt, Manju Mehta of Ahmedabad and Padmashri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. He is a disciple of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Pt. Ravi Shankar. Krishna Bhatt’s innovative style of music combines a rich blend of Khayal Gayaki (vocal) compositions and Dhrupad Tantrakari (instrumental) techniques. His music is noted for its virtuosity, originality and depth of feeling that is conveyed to the listener.

Sitarist Ikhlaq Hussain in Concert!
Ikhlaq Hussain is an accomplished master sitarist
whose powerful yet sensitive style of playing has enthralled audiences worldwide. He is one of the leading musicians of his generation, exhibiting great proficiency and originality. Ikhlaq's lineage dates back to a centuries-long line of prominent musicians of the Delhi Gharana (school) of Hindustani classical music, including Sufi Saint Hazrat Amir Khusrao, the creator of the sitar and tabla in the 13th century. Ikhlaq's musical education was acquired from his father, the eminent artist Ustad Imdad Hussain in Karachi and subsequently Ustad Kabir Khan. In 1991, Ikhlaq was awarded a scholarship from the Indian government to study with Pandit Ravi Shankar in India.
Ikhlaq's expressive playing has enthralled audiences in many cities in India, Pakistan, Europe, the Middle East and the United States. Charanams will be performing at the prestigious, popular SummerStage Concert. Charanams will play the opening act at the SummerStage main concert for the day featuring Wanda Jackson & Imelda May. They will present the Nivedita Shivraj's compositions from their winning performances at the Battle of the Boroughs. This concert is part of the victory concerts of Charanams.
Charanams is the carnatic jazz band that won the Battle of the Boroughs hosted by WNYC at the The Greene Space. Charanams presents original and traditional compositions blending Carnatic (South Indian Classical) & Jazz styles.
